UNF Continuing Education Course

Beginning Watercolor Level I and Level II

Tuesday from 6:30pm – 8:30pm @UNF

If you have never touched a paintbrush and feel a little anxious about trying, this is the class you want to dive right into. Watercolor is not hard. This class is designed as an introduction to will cover the basic techniques and color mixing.

Class is held at UNF. Enroll through the UNF Continuing Education Department

We have taken a very popular workshop and created a full length class. This course is designed to cover the 31 chapters of ‘Making Color Sing’ – in monthly increments. Each month we will tackle a chapter or more and discover new challenges and techniques that Jeanne Dobie uses. If you want to truly expand your watercolor knowledge and skills, this is the class for you. This is NOT a class for beginners, some watercolor experience is necessary. You will not get a finished painting from this class, instead you will gain knowledge  new insights, skills and techniques that you will be able to apply to future classes and paintings.

Please purchase ‘Making Color Sing’ by Jeanne Dovie, AWS. Every chapter is valuable. If you do not already have the supplies she uses in her book, please purchase them*.

Watercolor on Canvas – $81/Month

Friday 12:30pm – 2:30pm  @ Jennie’s Studio at Trends (note NEW time)

After painting watercolor on canvas for 8 years I am tickled to see that this technique has become wildly popular. We will explore the techniques used to paint on canvas as opposed to watercolor paper and learn how to prep the canvas correctly for application of the watercolor. Canvas board as well as stretched canvas will be used (you will need to purchase both) but, you can use the brushes and pigments that you are accustomed to using. Prepare to dive right in to a world of watercolor you will fall in love with.

Independent Painting on Tuesdays – $91/Month

Tuesday 10am – 1pm  @ Jennie’s Studio at Trends

This class is an art show within itself. Jennie offers a brief critique and demonstration in the beginning of class. This is followed by independent painting in that each student is painting their own subject matter and growing in their own style. As the weather turns nice (and before it is too hot) we hope to paint outside or take our camera on an adventure.

Workshops

Want to get more out of your art skills? Too busy to take a class during the week? These 3-day classes are offered on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and have a special topic each month.

Bring your own supplies, there will be a supply list provided or a $40 supply fee is available for those who would prefer to rent supplies.

Know your Palette – $175

Have you stood in the paint aisle completely lost because you cant decide between the hundreds of tubes staring back at you?  Step away from the paint. This is the workshop you have been waiting for! There is no need to buy every tube of paint in the store. You will learn how to create more than 122 hues of color out of just 6 hues!  Always fun and very informative. Bring the supplies you already are using as well as 3 full sheets of the watercolor paper you feel comfortable using.

Two – Part Easter Lily Workshop

Next time offered – Spring 2013

10am – 12pm – You will use the creative energy that you’ve stored inside of yourself and paint a beautiful Easter Lily. Don’t worry, the hard part is already done, you will be provided with a pre-drawn lily and it is up to you to give it the pop of color and the personality it deserves.

12pm – 1pm – Break for lunch at a local restaurant

1pm – 3pm – From your gorgeous Lily painting you will create a stunning faux stained glass window panel.
